Amaco No. 38 White Stoneware is formulated from choice clays for plasticity and whiteness, plus fire-clay to give it more body. No. 38 White Stoneware Clay contains no grog, yet it has the strength for throwing large pieces. An overall excellent clay for throwing, slab rolling, and hand modeling. No. 38 White Stoneware Clay has some characteristics of porcelain. A good fit at Cone 5 and makes an excellent Cone 10 stoneware.

Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971ºF, 1077ºC). The firing range is Cone 5-10 (2205º-2381ºF), and the recommended glaze firing is Cone 10 (2381ºF). At Cone 5 (2205ºF), shrinkage is 13% and absorption is 7%. At Cone 10 (2381ºF), shrinkage is 15%, absorption is 1.4%, and the clay fires white in oxidation and gray in reduction, both delicately peppered with darker gray specks. This art clay is talc-free.

This 50 lb. box includes two 25 lb. blocks of clay, each in a polyethylene storage bags, so feel free to use the amount required and store the rest for future use. Clay in moist form presents no hazard.

Note - Amaco No. 38 White Stoneware Clay is subject to special shipping considerations due to size and weight. When applying handles or connecting pieces, expect some shrinkage. It is recommended to connect separate pieces together when each piece has similar moisture.
