Daniel Smith PrimaTek Watercolors are unique paints made with authentic mineral pigments mined from the earth. They're finely processed and made into beautiful watercolors with amazing and diverse effects. Nearly all PrimaTeks have granulating properties which give them wonderful texture and depth. The PrimaTeks are gorgeous paints on their own, and they mix beautifully with other colors as well.
Diopside Genuine - Diopside Genuine is a rich gemstone green you'll reach for time and again. Also known as Russian Emerald, this mineral is usually seen in fine jewelry. Exquisite in hue, Diopside Genuine brushes out evenly from deep bottle green through clear Kelly green to palest mint. The chromium rich stone from which it's ground is green with brownish inclusions. In washes hints of the brown mineral settle out, adding an earthy nuance perfect for landscape work.
This is a granulating color, meaning a grainy visual texture is created when the pigment particles settle and clump together rather than settling evenly on the painted surface. Granulation is more pronounced on textured papers.
