Painting Challenge #2
Are you experiencing an artists' block, stuck for ideas on what to paint while stuck at home? Jean Pederson shares a great way to generate good painting ideas by looking within your home for found objects to create interesting art. We hope this inspires you to create your next masterpiece or sketchbook series.
"We find ourselves at home looking at the four walls and all that is held within them. The objects in our home provide us with many applications, useful tools, family heirlooms, decorations, and magazines, for example.
Several years ago, I was developing a series of work that was family-based and used historical papers, photos, and remnants to create my work. The materials salvaged had been important parts of my ancestral homes.
Are there items within your home that you could utilize to create your next masterpiece? Can you tell a story about your life by incorporating some things that aren’t too precious?
I have included a few images from the many fragments I found on my family farms." - Jean
