Winsor & Newton's finest quality acrylic range. It combines their color making expertise with the latest developments in resin technology. The 80 colors are brilliant when wet and remain as bright when dry. With Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylics, what you see is really what you get.
Most acrylic paints darken in tone as they dry. This affects color richness, intensity and depth and makes color matching difficult. With Winsor & Newton's new unique binder, translucent when wet and drying clear, there is virtually no color shift at all. This makes it easier to match Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylic colors from palette to canvas, and delivers superb color brilliance every time.
Acrylics dry quickly, which allows you to over paint within minutes and build up multiple layers during one painting session. For some artists acrylics can dry a little too quickly, so we have formulated the range to have a longer working time on the palette without compromising the drying time. Depending on the thickness of the paint, the working time is approximately 20-30 minutes.
Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylics offer a smooth, thick, buttery consistency with no stringiness. The color blends easily, can be mixed with mediums and thinned with water for water color techniques. It also retains brushstrokes for excellent impasto effects.
Winsor & Newton Professional Acrylic gives a generally even satin finish. Unlike other ranges, the colors do not contain extenders to modify the gloss, allowing the natural properties of the pigments to shine, which means there is some variation in surface sheen across different colors.
Available in 60 ml. and select 200 ml. tubes.

Company Info: | In 1832 chemist William Winsor and artist Henry Newton brought together the knowledge of the scientist and the creativity of the artist to offer an unprecedented choice of color, clarity and permanence to fine artists. Winsor & Newton pinpointed what was really needed – a regular source of reliable colors and brushes. Winsor & Newton first developed vastly-improved watercolors, followed by a number of other innovations including Chinese white, the first durable opaque white watercolor, and collapsible tin tubes for both oils and watercolors. A series of royal appointments and awards in the late 1800s paved the way for Winsor & Newton to take its colors around the world. In the early 20th century Winsor & Newton expanded its range to offer key value ranges. It also expanded its factories to ensure color and brush production carried on through both world wars. But William and Henry’s original ethos stayed at the heart of the business – whenever there was a new, exciting or better pigment or binder available, Winsor & Newton introduced it, including Designers gouache, fast drying oils, water mixable oils and the revolutionary Artists’ Acrylic (now Professional Acrylic). William and Henry’s commitment to quality and innovation are part of a rich heritage which informs Winsor & Newton to this day. They are dedicated to the craft of the fine artist and to providing them with new ways to explore their creativity, allowing them to share their work with a worldwide community. They embrace new ideas, seek out the latest technologies and materials and devote their time to creating the world’s finest art materials, which are used by some of the world’s finest artists. |
