Reformulated in 2023, Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner cleans dried acrylics, oils, and alkyds and restores both natural and synthetic brushes without damaging the brush head. The gentle, soap-based cleaner can be used on all colors and brushes, and can be used for cleaning palette and painting knives and other artist tools. Avoid contact with varnished or lacquered surfaces, such as brush handles, as the cleaner will soften these finishes.

For best results, use the brush cleaner after you have finished painting. Dip the brush into the liquid and scrub a little if necessary. The resulting foam will help rinse the pigments and binders out of the brush. Next, wipe the brush with a cloth and rinse with water. If the brush is very clogged, it may be necessary to soak it in the cleaner for a longer period of time, possibly overnight. After every cleaning, use your fingers to mold the brush head back to it's original shape and allow to dry. We recommend wearing gloves if you have sensitive skin.

This water-soluble cleaner is non-toxic, biodegradable, non-flammable and has low vapor.

Note - Not recommended for use on painted or varnished surfaces; contact with brush handles should be avoided. Not for use with polycarbonate or other plastic surfaces.
