Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Synthetic Hog Brushes are oil and acrylic brushes that perform at a professional level. After rigorous artist testing, the best synthetic bristles were selected to replicate the flags of a natural hog hair bristle, allowing for excellent color carrying capacity. A flag is the natural, split tip of each bristle, which carries more color and is evident on the highest quality hog brushes.
Available in a range of sizes across six shapes, this range was curated by oil and acrylic painters. The high-quality, firm bristles offer strong control when using full-bodied paint in a variety of strokes. The brush is very durable, resilient, and retains its shape even after heavy use. For use with oils, acrylics, alkyds, and watersoluble oils.
The ergonomic sculpted handle provides the ultimate comfort, control, and balanced grip while painting. The central dip allows the brush to sit comfortably in your hand, while the second curve towards the end of the brush handle allows for different painting positions. The birchwood used for the handles is obtained from sustainable sources, and ongoing consideration is given to the growth of responsible forest management, making them 100% FSC certified. The brush head is attached to the long handle with a seamless nickel ferrule.
Handmade at the Winsor & Newton brush factory in England, which has been producing fine art brushes by hand since the 1850s.
Bright - Use this short flat head for creating sharp edges with control and for moving stiff paint around.
Fan - Use a fan for blending, softening edges, and creating textures.
Filbert - This flat head with an oval tip is ideal for creating a broad mark with a soft edge. It's as if a round and a flat brush had a baby, making this brush shape very versatile.
Flat - A flat head with longer bristles and square edges is perfect for blending, glazing, or covering large areas.
Glaze - This wide, flat brush with square edges is ideal for covering large areas, glazing, or varnishing.
Round - Use the ever-popular round for fine detail, lines, and glazes.
