Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Painting Mediums

Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Painting Mediums are created specifically for Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colors to ensure the best performance and a painting experience very close to traditional oils.

Winsor & Newton uses 100% recycled plastic in their ergonomically designed bottles. Due to using recycled plastic, the material will sometimes have a tint to it, either slightly green or slightly yellow. Rest assured, the medium inside will be the normal color.

Fast Drying Medium - This fast drying medium smoothes brushwork and increases the transparency of Artisan Water Mixable Oil Color. It is excellent for glazing and producing fine detail. Use when painting in layers to maintain the 'fat over lean' rule. Fast Drying Medium allows paint to dry faster to aid working with multiple layers. Can be cleaned with water and soap, avoiding the use of harsh agents.

Impasto Medium - This stiff, quick drying medium retains textures and brush marks when mixed with Artisan Water Mixable Oil Color. Resists yellowing. For thick impasto, build the texture in several layers allowing each layer to dry first. May be cleaned up with water.

Linseed Oil - Artisan Linseed Oil produces a "fatter" mixture and reduces the consistency of oil paint while being slow-drying. It can be added to fast-drying mediums to balance drying times. Artisan Linseed Oil reduces the consistency and improves flow of Artisan Water Mixable Oil Color while increasing gloss and transparency. Use when painting in layers to maintain the 'fat over lean' rule. To keep light colors bright, use sparingly. May be cleaned up with water.

Painting Medium - This slow drying medium reduces the viscosity of water mixable oil colors while allowing for spreading, color blending, and glazing. Painting Medium reduces brush strokes and increases luminosity and flexibility, and is ideal for oiling out and enriching dull patches. Resists yellowing. May be cleaned up with water.

Stand Oil - Artisan Stand Oil is ideal for glazing and fine details as it gives a smooth enamel effect finish with no brush marks. The pale, viscous oil slows drying and adds transparency and gloss while providing a very flexible film. May be cleaned up with water. To keep light colors clean, use stand oil sparingly.
