In this 2-part “Specialty Techniques” workshop you will learn several ways to translate photos into art and you’ll also have the most fun you have ever had in Black and White! Tom will teach you how to create 5 different value plans from the same picture, and how to start a painting. You’ll also learn about color harmony, preliminary value studies, plein-air studies, and so much more. This workshop will vastly improve your creativity without the pressure of having a finished painting. Tom will demonstrate and then you will paint under his watchful eye. These step-by-step lessons will give you that all-important confidence for when you later create a finished painting. You will come away from this class with new, exciting, and different ways to paint the landscape. Tom provides a comprehensive amount of information for building strong foundations which can be applied to all your future paintings. Prior to the workshop, students will receive the photo reference, preliminary sketch, lesson guides, video tips and techniques, articles to read, bonus videos to watch, and color lesson guides to print out. You can follow the same scene that Tom demonstrates, one of the other options he will send, or work from your own composition. Tom’s 3 camera set up makes for great viewing of his demos and close-ups, and you can also benefit by listening as he helps each of the other students. The demonstrations will be recorded and available to replay, pause, rewind, fast-forward and screenshot, at your own pace and convenience, for 4 WEEKS following the workshop. As a bonus, Tom will continue to assist you by email and/or text for 4 WEEKS, answering your questions, reviewing your work, and offering suggestions for your paintings. This class is for artists having basic watercolor skills, and up.
