This 1-day live, interactive online workshop takes the student on a step-by-step journey to creating a finished painting. You will learn new watercolor techniques and secrets on how to create award-winning art with Tom Lynch! “Learn while doing” from one of the best! In the morning session, you will learn how to paint winter subjects of the landscape, such as snow, ice, drifts, trees, frozen water, skies, and much more, on different sheets of paper, with Tom. Using this method, you won’t have the pressure of a finished painting! During the 1-hour lunch break there will be a slideshow showcasing many watercolor paintings from Tom’s studio, workshops, and plein-air collection. In the afternoon session, you will put all the painted parts together, step-by-step, while learning about painting the focal point first, dramatic value changes, unity, design, composition, color harmony, and more. You will have a completed painting of a dramatic winter scene at the end of the day. Tom provides a comprehensive amount of information for building strong foundations which can be applied to all your future paintings. Prior to the workshop, students will receive the photo reference, preliminary sketch, lesson guides, video tips and techniques, articles to read, bonus videos to watch, and color lesson guides to print out. You can follow the same scene that Tom demonstrates, one of the other options he will send, or work from your own composition. Tom’s 3 camera set up makes for great viewing of his demos and close-ups, and you can also benefit by listening as he helps each of the other students. The demonstrations will be recorded and available to replay, pause, rewind, fast-forward and screenshot, at your own pace and convenience, for 4 WEEKS following the workshop. As a bonus, Tom will continue to assist you by email and/or text for 4 WEEKS, answering your questions, reviewing your work, and offering suggestions for your paintings. This class is for artists having basic watercolor skills, and up.
