Schmincke Horadam Aquarell Artist Watercolor is represented in 110 high quality colors. 69 colors are formulated with one pigment only, the ideal concept for professional painting and for color mixing.
Each artists' pigment has been researched and tested to comply with the highest quality standard regarding stability, fineness, resolubility and lightfastness. To achieve the outstanding characteristics, like reusable paint when dried on a palette and the high control of paint flow even on soft watercolor papers, Schmincke uses only the best raw materials. One example is the binding medium Kordofan Gum Arabic from the southern Sahara region. Like most natural products this traditional watercolor binding medium differs from year to year. Therefore Schmincke is testing Gum Arabic every time before purchase and selects only the best crop of the respective year.This adds small but significant quality advantages.

Super Granulating Watercolor - Granulating watercolors are fantastically fun for their gorgeous, organic effects. The surface effect of these special shades is that heavier pigment particles settle down into the paper indentations while the lighter pigment particles float above, giving a textured two-tone color effect that can be either subtle or pronounced. The rougher the paper, the greater the granulating effect.

| Company Info: | Since 4 generations the traditional Schmincke goal is making and providing the very best finest artists' colors for demanding artists. In 1881 Josef Horadam and Hermann Schmincke, affiliated through their wives, searched and found traditional resin-oil-color recipes, almost lost during the last period before the invention of the metal tube. Without tight containers like tubes the resin-oil-colors could not be durably kept while painting outside. At the Academy in Florence, Professor Cesare Mussini (never painting outside) still preserved old family recipes of finest natural resin-oil-colours. They became the initial and immediately successful exclusive program of the color-manufacturing plant founded by the two chemist color-men H. Schmincke and J. Horadam, while others continued to make the more simple oil-colors without resins as they became used to before the invention of tubes. The Schmincke goal, to supply the very best artists’ colors, is not only a pleasure for all who are involved, because a particularly beautiful program results, it is also commercially viable, because it secures a long-term niche in the global quality-market.
