Saunders Waterford is an exquisite English watercolor paper, made traditionally on a cylinder mould machine using 100% cotton. Each sheet is made to high archival standards, buffered with calcium carbonate to help defend finished pieces of work from discoloration caused by acids present in pollution. The paper is internally sized, and the surface is coated in gelatin, making it strong and resilient to scrubbing and other rough treatments without tearing.
The attractive surface of Saunders Waterford is created using natural woolen felts that give it a distinctive random texture. It's also suitable for acrylic, gouache, pastel, pen and ink, graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, and printmaking. Features 2 deckled edges and 2 torn edges with a watermark and embossed seal.
Saunders Waterford is a high quality professional fine art paper that comes with the endorsement of the Royal Watercolor Society of Britain.
Cold Press - This lightly textured paper surface is the most popular finish for watercolor paintings. It reflects light well, retaining the transparent quality of watercolors. The light tooth makes it easier to achieve certain details, while the slightly rougher texture shows off granulating colors beautifully. Not limited to watercolors, it's also recommended for gouache, acrylic, airbrush, graphite, pastels, and charcoal. A versatile paper texture.
Rough Press - Rough finish paper has an effect close to that of handmade paper, with a strongly pronounced tooth that naturally shows lots of texture in painting and highlights the effects of granulating colors. It's ideally suited for bold, expressive techniques rather than detail. Rough Press is also recommended for acrylics, pastel, and charcoal.
