In this new, never before offered, live, online workshop, Bob Burridge will teach you how to create more meaningful abstract paintings in a small-scale format! Not exactly a miniature, but artwork created for small spaces, based on graphic design, color, and a strong concept. Bob has called these his “little gems” since 1996. This concentrated workshop emphasizes variations in materials and experimentation using acrylic paint, collage, water soluble pencils, and crayons - from your concept to the creation of a series. Experience hands-on demos, techniques, and basic formulas. There will be plenty of painting time and critiques. Be prepared to paint looser, bolder, freer, lighter, and with more experimentation and guided play time. All water-soluble paints are welcome. This workshop will be hosted live through Zoom by Cheap Joe’s. Each session will be recorded, and enrolled students will receive lifetime, unlimited access to the workshop videos. Students will be emailed handouts of useful and need-to-know information about a week prior to the class. This workshop is for all skill levels.

Level 1 (and up) - Beginner: Covers the very basic techniques of the medium at a slower pace and offers plenty of individual help for all students. No prior experience in the medium is expected of the student. Robert Burridge, a noted award-winning Industrial Designer who, after twenty-five years in the corporate world, focused his life to painting every day. Burridge attributes his success to his education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, his stint as an adjunct professor at Cooper Union in New York City, and in 1966, his Fluxus art performances with Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Jim McWilliams and Charlotte Moorman. His work hangs in permanent collections of international embassies, corporate galleries, and art colleges. His solo museum exhibitions received positive attention, so he was invited to exhibit his paintings at the Smithsonian Folklife Circus Arts Festival in Washington, DC. Bob has been teaching workshops for Cheap Joe’s for over 20 years, and his workshops continue to sell out quickly.
