Water, with its ever-evolving character, possesses a spellbinding quality. When we introduce water lilies, fanciful fish and the warm sparkle of sunlight, true magic takes form. In this workshop you will learn how to make a fascinating textured underpainting, then build your painting with minimal details, and layer shapes with transparent and opaque acrylics on canvas and panel. Within this journey, you will master the intricacies of negative painting to reveal delicate petals, glistening leaves, and the dance of light upon the water's surface. These skills will allow you to create an ethereal atmosphere in your artwork.
In this interactive online program, Linda offers new projects each day, taking you through step-by-step exercises in this engaging workshop. This unique hybrid program blends live instruction with exclusive video demonstrations created for this workshop. You'll have ample time to work on your projects and seek guidance through the process. Access a private workshop webpage, complete with reference photos, a supply list, bonus lessons, and a comprehensive full-colour handbook for download, which encompasses all the lessons, tips, and reference materials.
Additionally, the main demonstration videos will be available for your review and practice for an extended 8 WEEKS following the workshop. This workshop is designed for intermediate-level painters and beyond. Our online painting class will be conducted via Zoom, offering you the opportunity to explore a distinctive and enchanting approach to painting while discovering the art of crafting your own water garden.

Level 3: Intermediate (and up) - Assumes the student already has a basic knowledge of the medium. Average paced with individual help for all students.
Linda Kemp is internationally recognized for her unique, contemporary watercolors and acrylics. Her innovative use of negative painting is the focus of her two best-selling books, Watercolor Painting Outside the Lines and Simplifying Design and Color for Artists. Linda is featured in art publications and video and internet forums, with over 1.5 million YouTube views. She is honored to be a Life Member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC), the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) and a Life Member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA). Her award-winning paintings are in collections around the world, including The Royal Collection in Windsor Castle, U.K. In 2008, Linda was awarded the A.J. Casson Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Watercolour, the top award for the CSPWC National Exhibition, Open Waters. In 2005 she was Awarded Woman of the Year for Arts and Culture.
Linda is an enthusiastic teacher who truly cares about the sharing of knowledge with her students. She instructs at symposiums and workshops throughout Canada, the U.S., the U.K., France, and now online. She has served as juror for numerous national and international exhibitions.
Cancellation Policy - By completing your purchase transaction, you agree to accept the following cancellation/refund policy: A $30 cancellation fee applies if you cancel at least 8 days in advance. Cancellation requests need to be emailed directly to edwina@cheapjoes.com. There is NO refund, for any reason, less than 8 days prior, during, or after the class. You cannot transfer to a different workshop. There are no refunds or discounts for missed sessions or no-shows. If the instructor allows the workshop to be recorded, the videos are only available to enrolled students. If you cannot attend the live sessions but want to receive the videos, please notify Edwina in advance of the workshop. No-shows, without prior notification, will not receive video access. If Cheap Joe's or the instructor cancels the class, you will receive a full refund of tuition, but not other related expenses. Please do not combine supply purchases and workshop purchases in the same order. (policy effective 11/15/2023)
