Lanaquarelle Watercolor Paper is a beautiful 100% cotton rag mould made paper that's ideal for watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and ink. It's pH neutral, internally and externally sized. It's not heavily sized, giving it a softer handling performance than most watercolor papers without compromising its ability to take dry brush techniques or wet on wet applications. It's also an extremely forgiving sheet on which to work.
This paper is pH neutral and both internally and externally sized. Each 22" x 30" sheet has 4 deckled edges and an embossed seal in one corner. Production of fine art papers by the Lana mill in France goes back to the late 16th century.
Lanaquarelle paper has gained enormous popularity with printmakers due to its not being heavily sized, and it works incredibly well for flat bed lithography, intaglio, and screenprinting.
Cold Press - This lightly textured paper surface is the most popular finish for watercolor paintings. It reflects light well, retaining the transparent quality of watercolors. The light tooth makes it easier to achieve certain details, while the slightly rougher texture shows off granulating colors beautifully. Not limited to watercolors, it's also recommended for gouache, acrylic, airbrush, graphite, pastels, and charcoal. A versatile paper texture.
Hot Press - Hot Press paper is the smoothest of watercolor papers, making it ideal for detailed artwork because the surface allows for the most delicate of details. For this reason, it's a favorite with illustrators and botanical artists. It also digitally scans well due to this lack of texture. Hot Press is also recommended for gouache, acrylic, colored pencil, pen and ink, and technical pens.
Rough Press - Rough finish paper has an effect close to that of handmade paper, with a strongly pronounced tooth that naturally shows lots of texture in painting and highlights the effects of granulating colors. It's ideally suited for bold, expressive techniques rather than detail. Rough Press is also recommended for acrylics, pastel, and charcoal.
