Holbein Watercolor Mediums

Holbein Watercolor Mediums change the working characteristics of your paint, or the surface on which you are painting. Use Holbein Watercolor Mediums to enhance gloss, increase transparency, create iridescent, pearlescent and impasto effects, improve flow and extend drying time.

Gum Arabic Medium - An artist grade medium which when mixed with watercolors will enhance gloss and transparency. Mixing opaque colors like Gouache and posters colors will increase transparency. May be mixed with dry pigments to produce your own watercolors. Available in a 60 ml. bottle.

Gum Arabic Paste - Holbein Gum Arabic Paste results in an impasto effect when mixed with watercolors. Available in a 15 ml. tube.

Iridescent Medium - This artist-grade medium is designed to facilitate iridescent (pearlescent) effects when used with water based media including watercolor, acrylic, gouache and acrylic gouache. Available in 60 ml bottle.

Multi-Sizing Liquid - Holbein Sizing Liquid is an artist grade sizing liquid used to reduce the absorbency of paper. Dilute with warm water and apply with a broad brush. Allow to fully dry. Available in a 60 ml. bottle.

Masking Fluid - Holbein Masking Fluid allows artists to mask highlight areas of their work and can also be used on painted surfaces. If the masking liquid is too thick, thin it with water or soapy water and apply it to the paper surface with a brush or pen. Wait for the mask to completely dry before applying paint. Once the paint is dry, remove Holbein Masking Fluid with a soft eraser or rubber pick-up. Available in 55 ml jar.

Ox Gall Medium - An artist grade wetting agent. Holbein Ox Gall, when mixed with watercolors, will improve flow and enhance wet-into-wet technique. It also improves the acceptance of watercolor of paper, particularly hard sized papers. Available in a 60 ml. bottle.

Watercolor Medium - When mixed with watercolors, Holbein Watercolor Medium facilitates fine line and stroke development by improving flow. Available in 60 ml bottle.
