Golden's GAC Mediums are used with acrylic paints to modify their working characteristics for the individualized needs of your painting style. GACs can be blended with acrylic paints to achieve complete technical control: use to extend the paint, regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity or improve adhesion and film integrity. The GAC polymers can also be used for binding pigment solids for various effects and surfaces.
The consistency of the GAC polymers is very fluid and thinner than other Golden Mediums, and will reduce the thickness of most acrylic paints. Each GAC product represents a unique polymer that offers certain specific attributes, giving each GAC its own unique benefits and applications.
GAC 100: Universal Acrylic Polymer - Use this fluid medium to dilute and extend colors while increasing flexibility. This is also the medium to use when making your own paint. Dries to a moderately glossy and tacky finish.
GAC 200: Hard Extender - This hardest and least flexible medium is used to increase film hardness and reduce tack. It improves adhesion on non-porous surfaces such as glass and plastic, although some surfaces will not create a permanent bond. Dries to a clear, high gloss finish.
GAC 400: Fiber Stiffener - Use this medium for priming fabrics when stiffness is desired, allowing for the sculpting and shaping of draped fabrics. It also acts as a rabbit skin glue alternative when applied directly to raw canvas or linen. Can be heat set to decrease water sensitivity.
GAC 500: Gloss Extender - This self-leveling medium offers a unique balance of film hardness and flexibility. Use it to extend paints and give a gloss finish with increased mar resistance. Works well on flexible or rigid supports.
GAC 800: Pouring Medium - Use this medium for acrylic pouring techniques, as the puddles dry evenly and will not craze. Dries to a high gloss finish with moderate clarity. Also perfect for priming chalky surfaces.
GAC 900: Fabric Painting Medium - This medium modifies acrylic paints for painting or screen printing on clothing. It offers a soft, pliable feel when heat-set, and provides excellent laundering stability.
