Golden Acrylic Gesso

Golden Gesso is a flexible liquid ground that seals, protects and gives “tooth” to substrates, which promotes paint adhesion. It is formulated to accept a wide variety of media on many commonly used painting surfaces. Golden Gesso is an acrylic primer and is best suited for priming for acrylic paintings. Oil paints can be applied over acrylic gesso.

It is recommended that artists apply two coats of gel medium before the gesso to stiffen the surface and reduce oil absorption. Golden Gesso comes ready to use, but can be mixed with water for thinner applications with spray equipment. Golden Gesso can also be mixed with Golden Acrylics to produce a range of colored grounds for you to tone your painting surface. When applied in three layers, Golden gesso will perform on any variety of textured surfaces that you choose to paint on. The more layers that you add, the smoother surface you can create.
