Break tradition! In this unique workshop, Anne will teach you her methods and tricks to paint with watercolor like an oil painter paints with oils. Unlike a traditional watercolorist, she does not glaze, she paints directly out of the well, and rarely mixes paint for a specific color. The paints (who all like each other) mingle and mix directly on the paper. Learn how to take a “nothing looking” subject matter and edit the photo to make it into an exciting painting! In addition, you’ll learn about framing, and options to not frame, such as cradleboards or canvas. This class will cover many topics, so be prepared to listen, watch, and learn from the comfort of your own home or studio in this one-day, live & interactive class through Zoom. Anne will motivate and guide you step-by-step as she demonstrates her techniques and unique process. You will receive personalized feedback during the interactive demonstrations, and with an overhead camera, you’ll have the same view that Anne has as she paints! The class is best for intermediate artists and up, as some watercolor experience is needed. Anne will not finish the painting in this 4-hour class, but she will be teaching and covering all the elements needed for you to complete the image on your own. Please note that the example painting shown may be altered or different from the reference photo provided. Cheap Joe’s will record the workshop and upload the unlisted video to our YouTube channel. Enrolled students will have unlimited, lifetime access to the video so you can watch again later at your convenience, and at your own pace. Anne will also be available for email assistance after the workshop to finish your painting, or for critique. Students will be provided with a reference photo, pre-class instructions, and other information prior to the workshop. Anne will not be providing a pattern drawing as she feels it’s important for you to see and feel the shapes as you put them on the paper yourself. Anne is teaching six 1-day Watercolor workshops in 2025 (January-May), each with a different subject and painting. One is not a pre-requisite to take Anne’s other workshops. You are welcome to take a single favorite, several, or all 6.

Level 3: Intermediate (and up) - Assumes the student already has a basic knowledge of the medium. Average paced with individual help for all students.
Canadian born, Anne Abgott, maintains her studio in Cortez, Florida. She is the author of the #1 Best Selling Book “Daring Color”, published by North Light Books, which has had 3 reprints! Cancellation Policy - By completing your purchase transaction, you agree to accept the following cancellation/refund policy: A $30 cancellation fee applies if you cancel at least 8 days in advance. Cancellation requests need to be emailed directly to edwina@cheapjoes.com. There is NO refund, for any reason, less than 8 days prior, during, or after the class. You cannot transfer to a different workshop. There are no refunds or discounts for missed sessions or no-shows. If the instructor allows the workshop to be recorded, the videos are only available to enrolled students. If you cannot attend the live sessions but want to receive the videos, please notify Edwina in advance of the workshop. No-shows, without prior notification, will not receive video access. If Cheap Joe's or the instructor cancels the class, you will receive a full refund of tuition, but not other related expenses.
