Do you find yourself copying your photos because you’re just not sure how else to use them? Do you want to burst out of that copying routine and make more original paintings? If you do, then Alexis is here to help you! Alexis frequently uses source photos to inspire her watercolors, but she never copies them! She will teach you how she interprets her photos, distills out their best bits, imagines her pictorial stories, and combines it all into better organized, and more engaging new images, totally without copying! Alexis’s lessons and demos will surprise and inspire you. You will be encouraged and energized to make paintings that are more personal, expressive, and original, and you will successfully “Free Yourself From Copying!” Along the way, Alexis will share many helpful tips and essential information on drawing, values, color mixtures, design principles, and painting techniques that are always relevant. Each workshop day will include an info-packed lesson, an inspiring demo, plus one-on-one conferences with each student. You can paint in your own home and studio while Alexis guides and encourages you by offering feedback and helpful suggestions. This live/interactive online painting class will be taught and hosted by Alexis, using the Zoom platform. She will record the workshop and upload it to YouTube so enrolled students will have unlimited, lifetime access to the video following the workshop. Alexis will send specific details and log-in information, by email, one week prior to the workshop.

Alexis Lavine has thousands of photos which she uses to inspire her watercolor paintings, and she loves to share her methods with her students. She wants to help others improve their art and reach their own creative goals, and she teaches with enthusiasm, commitment, humor, kindness, and humility. She has taught watercolor and drawing for over thirty years, traveling from California to the Caribbean to do so. Thanks to Zoom, she believes that her online classes are every bit as instructional and inspiring as her in-person classes! She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Watercolor USA Honor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and others. Her paintings have been published in The New Palette Magazine, Watercolor Artist Magazine, Splash, The Artistic Touch, The Best of Watercolor, and Creative Art Press instructional DVDs.
