Pumpkin Panache

Every year at this time, Cheap Joe’s hosts the annual Halloween Breakfast. In years past, we all dressed up for a costume contest. You’d be surprised how difficult it is to encourage adults to play dress up! This year, however, we had a pumpkin decorating contest which compelled several Cheapies to display their artistic sculpting skills. Everyone was excited to show off their creative side by participating in the competition.

There was a cute snowman, a Mr. Potato Head, and a glittery purple creation with a scary night scene. We also had the Van Gogh Sunflowers represented, a funny vampire, and even Edward from Twilight! Some pumpkins offered viewers to “LOOK INSIDE!” for some scary snakes and spiders waiting, greetings of “Trick or Treat” and even a “Happy Kaizen” encouraging change for the New Year! The usual ghosts, goblins, and scaredy cats showed up as well. We all had a great time and breakfast was a big treat as well. Thanks, Cheap Joe’s for a great Halloween Breakfast this year! Happy Creative Carving Day!

Pro Tips for Painting Pumpkins

  • Prep Your Pumpkin: Before you start painting, make sure your pumpkin is clean and dry. A quick wipe with a damp cloth will remove any dirt or dust that might prevent the paint from sticking.
  • Layer Your Colors: Acrylics are great for layering, so don’t be afraid to apply multiple coats to build up the intensity of your colors. Just make sure to let each layer dry before adding the next.
  • Seal the Deal: If you want your pumpkin to last even longer, especially if it's going to be displayed outdoors, consider sealing it with a clear acrylic sealer once your paint is completely dry. This will protect your artwork from the elements and keep it looking vibrant.

Get Creative and Enjoy!

Whether you’re going for a spooky Halloween theme, a chic autumn design, or something completely outside the box, these acrylic paints will help you bring your vision to life.
