Winsor & Newton Liquin Mediums thin oil and alkyd paints, speed in drying time and offer an increased resistance to yellowing. These durable mediums improve the flow of oil paints, increase gloss and are ideal for glazing techniques. Winsor & Newton Liquin is one of the most popular and commonly used oil painting mediums available to artists today.
Winsor & Newton uses 100% recycled plastic in their ergonomically designed bottles. Due to using recycled plastic, the material will sometimes have a tint to it, either slightly green or slightly yellow. Rest assured, the medium inside will be the normal color.
Liquin Fine Detail - This quick drying, non-yellowing, gloss medium is ideal for fine details, glazing and blending. Liquin Fine Detail produces a smooth surface with reduced brushstrokes, allowing your oil painting to dry to a beautiful gloss finish reminiscent of a Van Eyck or Dürer. This medium is touch-dry in one to five days, depending on the climate, colors used and film weight. It is the modern alternative to traditional copal mediums that were based on natural resins, which offered fast-drying properties to artists. Liquin Fine Detail is not suitable as a varnish or final coat.
Liquin Impasto - This oil medium will reduce drying time and improve flow, allowing your oil paintings to dry to a semi-gloss finish. Liquin Impasto is specifically designed for retaining brush strokes and texture in your painting without any visible leveling. It also extends tube color, provides bulk, and allows more blending time. When dry, Liquin Impasto forms a tough and flexible film that can be varnished in the normal way and may be used for heavier brush work or palette knives. Liquin Impasto is not suitable as a varnish or final coat.
Liquin Light Gel - Liquin Light Gel halves the drying time of oil color and produces a smooth gel, creating a low-viscosity, gel-like paint filem that is easier to work with and reduces brush stroke retention. Light Gel adds transparency and gloss, and is ideal for using when creating wet paint layers. The non-yellowing formula liquifies the paint texture and allows the paint to dry faster to aid working with multiple layers. Mix up just enough to brush out your desired amount of paint. You’ll notice mixing just a small amount softens its texture. Not suitable as a varnish or final coat.
Liquin Original - The iconic Winsor & Newton Liquin Original medium halves the drying time of oil color and reduces brush stroke retention. Liquin Original creates a smooth, gel-like paint paint film that is easy to work with and allows paint to dry faster to aid working with multiple layers while adding transparency and gloss. The non-yellowing formula liquifies the paint's texture and is ideal for glazing techniques. Not suitable as a varnish or final coat.
