FAQs Online Workshops

To help you get answers quickly, here are the most commonly asked questions we receive about Cheap Joe's Art Workshops.

Q: I’ve never used Zoom. How do I start?

A: When you register for a Cheap Joe’s Online Art Workshop, our Workshop Coordinator will send you a document of instructions, helpful tips, and a troubleshooting guide to using Zoom. You can also view and download them here:

Zoom also offers many tutorials, videos, and assistance on their website as well. (www.zoom.us) We recommend that you visit Zoom’s website and practice on your own device before the first day of the class so that you are familiar with the features and navigating the Zoom window.

Q: Will we get a recorded video of the Online Art Workshop?

A: Yes, unless the individual instructor does not allow recording, each class session will be recorded and uploaded to the Cheap Joe’s YouTube channel following the workshop.

Q: How long will I be able to watch the video after the online workshop ends?

A: Cheap Joe’s records the video to our host computer, not the Zoom cloud, so when we post the video to our YouTube channel, you will have unlimited access without a time limit. (Some instructors may set a time limit on their own recordings, however)

Q: When will the online workshop video be available?

A: Usually the next morning following the previous session, although in some instances, it may be 24 hours afterward.

Q: What equipment do I need to join an Online Art Workshop?

A: A computer works best, but tablets or even phones will work. The most important thing is to have a strong internet connection (ethernet preferred) or a strong wireless signal. Your device will also need to have video and audio streaming capabilities with a camera and microphone.

Q: Is the online workshop interactive, or do I just watch?

A: All our Online Art Workshops are live and interactive.

Q: What platform does Cheap Joe’s use for the Online Art Workshops?

A: Cheap Joe’s hosts the workshop using the Zoom platform.

Q: If I need to leave a session early or miss a day of the online workshop, will that be a problem?

A: Not at all. We have a moderator at the host computer at all times during the class, so if you check in late, you will be admitted to the class when you get there. You can also leave early, or leave and come back in. If you need to miss an entire session, we request that you let us know so we won’t worry, or call you, if you’re not there when we take “roll”. You will also receive a link to the video, so you can review the session that you missed later.

Q: How and when will I receive my login information to join the online class in Zoom?

A: Two or three days prior to your workshop, you will receive an email from the virtual.workshops@cheapjoes.com mailbox. This email will contain the link to the workshop in Zoom and will have a meeting ID and Passcode that you will use to join the class.

Q: Will I need supplies for the Online Art Workshop?

A: Yes, most likely. Each instructor has their own supply list and our Workshop Coordinator will email a copy to you when you register. The Supply List will also be available for download on the Cheap Joe’s website on the individual workshop's description page. Please place your order for supplies as soon as possible after you register to allow time for your order to be processed, shipped, and arrive in time for your class.

Q: The online class is starting and I’m having technical problems and can’t get in. Help!

A: Send a quick email to virtual.workshops@cheapjoes.com and state your name and problem. Our host or moderator is standing by and will contact you and help you get in

Q: I’m trying to sign up for an Art Workshop, but it says it’s “Out of Stock”. What does that mean?

A: If the class is out of stock, it means that the class is full and there are no more spaces available. You can sign up to be notified when it becomes available again (which is like a waiting list) or you can email Edwina, our Workshop Coordinator, (edwina@cheapjoes.com), and asked to be put on a waiting list in the event of a cancellation.

Q: What is your Covid Policy for In-Person Workshops?

A: While Masks are not required to be worn while taking a Cheap Joe's workshop, they are recommended. Cheap Joe's does follow the CDC and local guidelines for all Covid-19 health regulations. If any changes are made to local guidelines, Cheap Joe's will make the workshop participant aware via email or phone call. By registering for, traveling to, and participating in a Cheap Joe’s sponsored event, you acknowledge the risk and agree to hold Cheap Joe’s harmless for any discomfort or illness you may experience as a result of attending.

Q: What's included in the price of an In-Person Workshop?

A: World-class art instruction and ample workspace drafting tables with comfortable seating are provided. Art supplies, travel, lodging, and meal arrangements are the responsibility of the participant. Lodging discounts are available at Holiday Inn Express, Country Inn & Suites, and Quality Inn hotels. Participants receive a discount on art supplies in our Outlet Store during the workshop. You may run an open account for the week and pay on the last day of class.
