"Ringer Washer in Leicester, NC" By Stephen Santore
Chalk, Charcoal, Graphite
13in x 18in
The materials, including the Strathmore Cotton paper, are from Cheap Joe's in Asheville, North Carolina. When I find scenes like this and draw them, they become a part of me for many reasons. Since drawing this piece, I have become good friends with the owner of the property. She is re-inventing the land, which has been in her family since the 1700s, in marvelous ways. The Ringer Washer was used by her grandmother. Hopefully, when you see this work, a part of it, or more, becomes a part of you.
